Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru is a beautiful wildlife heaven tucked in valleys between nderit and menengai.
Gazetted in 1968, Lake Nakuru is home of flamingos and a sanctuary for white and black rhinoceros. Lake Nakuru is a 45sq kms alkaline lake with no outlet. The lake is in the middle of lake Nakuru national park which covers 188sqkms. Lake Nakuru is served by three official gates namely Lanet gate, Nderit gate and the main gate.

Mt. Longonot National Park

Mt. Longonot is a unique extinct volcano with a forested crater on top of the mountain. The 7km rim offers a panoramic view of the adjacent maimahiu plains, kijabe hills and lake Naivasha. Mt Longonot is 2,776m high and was officially gazetted in 1993 as a national park.
Activities in Mt. Longonot include hiking the 3.5km trail and further 7.2 kms circle of the crater rim. Mt. Longonot can be accessed from Mai-mahiu Naivasha road through the main gate.
There is no accommodation at Mt. Longonot national park.

Hell’s gate National Park

Hell’s gate national park is one of the scenic parks managed by the Kenya wildlife service and is open to recreation activities. Hell’s gate covers a small area of 68sq kms and was gazette in 1984. It can be accessed from Moi south lake road through Elsa Gate, Narasha gate and Olkaria gates.

Attractions include underground water-gouged gorges, Fischer’s tower, cycling tracks, wildlife, geothermal spa and nature walks.

There is no accommodation inside Hell’s gate national park except for camp sites. However, visitors to Hell’s gate can stay in many accommodations around Naivasha.

Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha is one of only two fresh water lakes in the rift valley. Covering 139 sq kms, lake Naivasha sits in the south if Naivasha town. Gazetted officially in 1984 and officially protected through an order named LAKE NAIVASHA MANAGEMENT PLAN) through an act of parliament legal notice no. 108 environmental Management and co-ordination Act 1999. Lake Naivasha is a bird’s sanctuary and hosts close to 400 species of aquatic and arboreal birds.
